Before 11 years old, Daniel didn't even know what a banjo or bluegrass was. It actually all started out with a digital encyclopedia program. This program had a clip of almost every instrument in the world, and out of all of them, banjo stuck out like a sore thumb (covered in chocolate). This eventually led to purchasing a banjo and, under weird circumstances, finding the best banjo teacher in Texas. Under Kerry Jones, Daniel was able to learn every aspect of music including three-finger style, melodics, chromatics, single-string, traditional bluegrass, classical, and even far boundaries like jazz. A mix of these contribute to a unique style of his own. In 2006, at the age of 16, he won the Texas State Banjo Championship. After this accomplishment, he felt the need to finally settle with a band. Daniel started playing in local groups such as Cypress Creek and Huck's Acoustic Revue. In 2007, he was asked to join and form a new group called Appointed. This group fit his style and his own expectations. He plans on sticking with the now nationally-touring group expanding on versatility and group dynamics. He would like to thank his parents and the Lord Jesus Christ for their never ending love and support. |

Josh was born on August 3, 1987 in La Porte, TX. Four years later his family moved to Dickinson, TX where he stayed until moving to Nashville, TN in 2008. Josh is a member of a rather large family, three brothers and three sisters. when he was around nine, he had the desire to play the tuba, but home-schooling and finances made it difficult to pursue. A couple of years after that, his brother Daniel started learning how to play the banjo. Josh started listening to Daniel’s banjo teacher’s band perform, along with some other bluegrass bands in the area. Later his mom asked him if he wanted to learn how to play the bass. His parents got him a bass form an individual in the Woodlands. Josh was in the ninth grade when he started learning the bass. He took a video course from Pensacola Christian College, but got tired of learning orchestrated songs only. He started learning bluegrass songs from his brother’s banjo teacher’s family. He would sit in on jam sessions, learning to play by ear and picking up any pointers anyone could teach him. He then started listening to Edgar Meyer, quit probably the best bassist on the planet. What was fascinating to him is how Meyer would bow one part of a song and pluck another part. Listening to Meyer, and studying how he played, made Josh’s own ability soar. As a result, Josh has quickly become one of the finest bassists in the region. Josh’s influences are obviously, Edgar Meyer, Andy Moritz, of Classical Grass, and Stan Jones of White Dove. Josh played with Huck’s Acoustic Revue 2004-06, then helped form Midland Express in mid ’06 and continued to play with them until late ’07. Around that same time he was given the opportunity to play for a progressive bluegrass gospel band called “Appointed”, which to this day still plays for. Josh gives full credit of his playing ability to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. |

Josh grew up in Cleveland, TX, with his mom, dad, and sister. At the age of 5, Josh began taking fiddle lessons from Matt Hartz in Hunstville, TX. Since then, he has acquired skills to play guitar, mandolin, piano, drums, and bass. Throughout Josh's life, he traveled around singing and playing gospel music with his family band as full-time weekend warriors. He also played fiddle for the house band at the Liberty Opry for one year, and from ages 15-19, was the youth music leader at his church. After working at Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church in Houston as an audio/video tech, he worked as Head Audio Engineer at The Ark Family Church in Conroe, TX. Now, graduated from college with an Associates of Applied Science in Recording Arts (Music/Buisness Degree), he owns and runs his own personal recording studio. In 2007, along with Jacob Frady and Bethany Allred (whom he met at the Stamps Baxter School of Music in Nashville, TN) Josh helped form the band Appointed and recorded and engineered their first CD. He is now pursuing a full-time music career with them. Josh would like to thank his family for encouraging him and providing the resources needed to learn. He also gives full credit to Jesus Christ for every talent and ability, and thanks Him for every opportunity He has given him throughout his life. Josh is excitedly looking foward to everything God has in store. (Jeremiah 29:11) |
